The Lambs Gambol on Friday, 4th May, turned out to be a balmy, windy day for the 60 Lady Vets and Seniors who gambolled around the Holywell. Like the Duck Dawdle it has proved a popular event followed by a delicious, lamb-themed meal in the Club dining-room.
In spite of a buggy flat tyre and sundry other delaying factors everyone got round in about four hours, pretty good given the average age of the players of - well, that would be telling. The winners of the better-ball Stableford were Nan Girling and John Godwin well clear of the field with a highly creditable 47 points with Mary Baillie and Ken Metcalfe in second place on 43. The bronze medal position was fiercely contested with Lorna Harper and John Bower on 42 points prevailing on a last three holes count-back over Di Mably and Derek Kingsbury (can’t keep him out of the prizes) and Rose Jones and Peter Commings.
The lamb-related prizes were much appreciated by all, and everyone seemed to be smiling by the end of a happy event.
