It was Tuesday, the sun was out and it was a stableford, what more could the ladies ask for?..... Well, a good score it would seem and that's precisely what some of our ladies got!
Carole Waights kicked off the high scoring in Division 1 with no less than six par's and 23 of her 40 points on the front nine. The back nine didn't quite follow the same plan, but a birdie on the fourteenth helped and Carole's was the score to beat. The closest in second place was Pauline Meredith with 37 points. In Division 2 Julie Finch was the leader of the pack with a very respectable 35 points and her playing partner for the round, Barbara Hawkins coming in second place with 31 points.
Not to be outdone the ladies on the Holywell were definitely on the scoreboard with the top five scores being 40 and over. The monster score of the day was from Marion Andrews with 49 points and that was with a blob on the ninth! It's unclear what Marion had for breakfast, but whatever it was it certainly did the trick. Having completed a round of golf sixteen shot's, yes sixteen shot's under her handicap Marion was definitely for the chop. This amazing score has resulted in a whopping 5.2 cut taking Marion's handicap down to 25. Nan Girling was the closest in second place with another great score of 43 points and earning this week's Venerable Vet. The top five placing's had considerable handicap cut's, but a collective sigh off relief that it wasn't as much as Marion!.....Well done ladies.
