It's not often we can say it, but the golf was hot and so was the weather!
The ladies played the Stableford format Orangefield Cup on the Church Course in what can only be described as blisteringly hot conditions. Whilst we have been enjoying a prolonged dry and beautifully sunny spell, the temperature reached it's highest so far. With 28 ladies in the field a few succumbed to the heat and couldn't finish, but for those that persevered it paid off.
Sarah Fisher who won her mixed foursomes final on Sunday, was obviously on a roll as she scored a whopping 45 points with her playing partner of the day, Sue Kingston-Frost hot on her heels with 40 points. We all know what follows a good round and the ladies were no exception, both receiving a cut in their handicaps!
Meanwhile on the Holywell, it was all to play for in the Wills Salver. With even less of a breeze to give relief and the thought of a nice cup of tea at the end of it, 16 ladies soldiered their way round to enter a score. This year Anne Crossley took the spoils with a fantastic 39 points (also earning herself a handicap reduction), followed closely by Lorna Harper on 37 points.
Well done ladies!
