The Gammon Trophy Final was played on Sunday, 18th September, at Trevose Golf Club in the most horrendous conditions imaginable. The wind was gale force and the one hard shower of rain was extreme and made play very difficult for all involved. A good crowd of supporters from both clubs braved the elements as well to cheer on their team. St Enodoc played Perranporth in a very closely fought battle with many matches lost and won on the 17th and 18th holes. Di Dingle won her match 5 & 4 but sadly the other matches were all lost giving a final result of 6-1.
The team of Katie Rule, Bev Vann, Judy Hultgren, Sarah Sandercock, Meg Godfrey, Sue G Jones and Di Dingle played incredibly well considering the conditions and mention should be made of Sarah Sanderson who unfortunately could not play in the final due to injury. Our Team Captain, Judy Hultgren worked incredibly hard to inspire the team through each round and we would like to also thank everyone who has supported us throughout the competition.
Courtesy of Trudy Tremain we have some wonderful photographs of the occasion; many of these show just how diificult the conditions were. Click here to see Gammon Final photos
