Ladies Club Championship and more

On Tuesday 3rd September, players were competing for the Clarke Cup on the Church Course in perfect playing conditions. Sue Willmott played an excellent round of golf and achieved a total of 38 points which was easily good enough to win the trophy. Mary Rayment claimed the runner up spot with 33 points.

Winner: Sue Willmott 38 points
Runner up: Mary Rayment 33 points

The players on the Holywell Course were playing another round of the Beason Medal Competition and once again scoring was very good.

1st Carole Waterworth nett 59
2nd Pauline Wilkins nett 63

Ladies Club Championship

This took place on Sunday 8th September when players had to contend with cool and showery conditions in the morning turning to dry and breezy conditions in the afternoon. In the 18 holes competition for The Barbara Wills Trophy, Celia Jarvis played consistently good golf to finish head and shoulders above the rest of the field with a nett 72. Jackie Churcher claimed second place with a nett 80.

In the 36 holes competition, the top prizes were won by the narrowest of margins with Sue Ofield being crowned Ladies Strokeplay Champion of 2013, one shot ahead of Bev Vann. The nett competition for The Foster Centenary Cup saw two players tied on the same score and it was the in- form Sue Willmott who was awarded first place ahead of talented youngster Rhiannon Rich.

Barbara thanked all the players for participating in this year’s competition and noted that it was truly all inclusive as ages ranged from 17 years to 70 years. She also emphasised the importance of the one day 36 holes medal format for players aspiring to compete at a higher level.
