In perfect golfing conditions St Enodoc hosted Perranporth in the second round of the Annodata.
Leading the way Suzie Willmott played Nikki Hodge. After 9 holes the match was all square. Nikki used her experience on the back 9 to take the match 3&1. Next up was Avril Starling making her debut and putting the first point on the board winning 7&6. Trudie Tensjo was out 3rd against Vicky Lee Comyn. Going 1 down after 9 Trudie was unable to claw the game back with Vicky winning the game 3&2. Out 4th Lynn Ashcroft took on Jackie Mallett. Lynn lost a few early holes and had to chase back, but with a gritty and determined effort Lynn put the 2nd St Enodoc point on the board making it 2-2. Bev Vann was out last and found herself 1 down after 9, but fought back to be 1 up after 14. Playing Sarah Shobrook to a nail biting finish Bev drove the 17th green and rolled up her putt for a gimme, but was matched when Sarah then rolled in a 20 foot putt for a half!
Finally, on the 18th green equidistant from the pin in 4, Sarah rolled in a 10 footer from off the green leaving Bev with an all important 10ft putt to extend the match. Agonisingly, she and the gathered players and spectators watched it glide past the hole.
It was a great match played in great spirit....Well done to Perranporth with a 3-2 win.
Thanks to the players, caddies and supporters. Also thanks to clubhouse staff for the refreshments enjoyed afterwards.
