A very well attended AGM took place at St Enodoc on Tuesday 6th November.
The evening began with Diana welcoming everyone and chaired the meeting with her signature good humour and aplomb. In her speech she noted individual successes, stand out days and extended her thanks to all sections of the club. This was rounded off by thanking Penny Cartwright, Sue Richards and Sarah Sandercock for all their hard work on the ladies committee and who's term had now come to an end. This was followed by speeches, which were thoughtfully prepared and delivered extremely well by the Lady Vets Captain, Mary Baillie; Honorary Treasurer Chris Henderson and County Delegate Caroline Hume-Kendall respectively.
An array of successful Ladies across all sections were presented with prestigious Club Trophies and well earned vouchers.
Diana handed the badge of office to incoming Captain Sue Roworth who in turn presented Diana with a gift in recognition for her time as the Ladies Captain. Sue started off by expressing the Ladies admiration for Diana in her role as Lady Captain over this past year, for the courage she has shown in dealing with personal issues and for being a fantastic ambassador for the Ladies Section of St Enodoc Golf Club. We applaud and thank you!
In her incoming speech Sue thanked Kath Biddle for accepting the role of Vice Captain and welcomed new members to the Ladies Committee: Maria Buckley, Chris Dymond, Beth Elliott and Sarah Fisher. We have a great committee who will work hard to develop and maintain the opportunities open to all golfers. Sue’s main wish is that all Ladies embrace all opportunities and to focus on what they can do, not what they can’t!
On the night £55 was raised for the Cornwall Air Ambulance Heli Appeal for guessing the combined length of Diana & Sue's speeches. The lucky guess was from Janine Clagett who won a lovely bottle of Sparking Rosé.
The Ladies, who were joined by The Club Captain Tony Mindel, Vice Captain Bob Cruse, Club Chairman Julian Darnell and the General Manager Simon Greatorex were then invited to finish off the evening with Canapés and Wine.
Lastly and by no means least, the ladies wish to thank Iain and his team for such a delicious spread. The variety and presentation was superb and to Chris, Heather and Richard for keeping everyone suitably hydrated throughout the evening!
