Katie and faithful caddie Father John travelled on 2nd July to one of the \"fairly local\" WPGA events, for them, Salisbury and South Wilts G.C. only 4 hours away! Katie was first off at 8am playing with Lucy Williams, a regular tour player mainly on the Ladies European Access LPGA and she also gets some invites to the main Tour.
Katie felt quietly confident going into this event, her long game was good, and Nick Williams in only 15 minutes, had sorted Katie\'s putting, something that John been trying to do this for 6 years! The weather once again was windy and the course was a long and undulating par 73. Katie had 4 bogeys and 4 birdies and the rest pars, for an excellent 73, and for most of the time was joint first with her playing partner, but in the last 2 groups a 70 and two 72s came in, pushing Katie to 4th, but a good day, and putting so much better.
Katie in now 4th in the ranking for the new WPGA International Challenge and to play in the Ladies European Tour Access Series, (LETAS), for which she now seems likely to qualify - a great achievement in only her first year as a Pro. This will be played on the 26-28 September at Stoke by Nayland G.C, with an overall £25,000 prize fund, a nice win should pay for poor old dads petrol expenses for the year! Next up is try and qualify at The Berkshire on the 15th July for the Ricoh Women\'s British Open, being held at St Andrews, limited places, but now Nick has sorted Katie\'s putting out, who knows?
