Such was the strength of the wind on Sunday morning last that Nick Williams gave serious consideration to postponing the 2018 Turkey Trot. However once he was satisfied that the risk of rain to go with the wind was minimal he gave the go ahead. Or as the wag in charge of the Club's Twitter account that morning wrote - "Pro says the Blow must go on ...... oops sorry the Show must go on". So with a shot gun start fifty-six pairs set off to do battle in this traditional pre-Christmas foursomes stable ford competition. To say that conditions were testing would be an understatement, wind speed was a minimum of 30 mph and gusts of 50 mph frequent.
On the occasion of his thirty-third anniversary of organising the Turkey Trot Head Professional Nick Williams was on good form for the presentation ensuring that the Captain's Charity was well supplied with £1 and £2 fines for offences both real and imagined. The prize table was loaded and those who managed a minimum score of 24 points were in the prizes. With some quite excellent golf in the conditions there were three scores of 32 points and winning the turkeys for their families were
1st Kira Barnes & Lewis Bradley
