As you would expect it was a tremendous experience for your junior players to play at Woodall Spa in such an event representing Cornwall as the champion club. The organisation was slick and formal and the standard of play at an extremely high level. The course was long, demanding and testing with the greens difficult. You would have been proud of the youngsters ably coping on the big stage.
As you would have expected the scoring was exceptional. In the winning team each of the 3 players in the team registered a score of over 40 points. A “tiny” wisp of a player playing in Sams match scored 41 points.....and he was off a handicap of 4. Anyway you would have been proud of our team, they had to execute the full range of shots just to get round and they did it with confidence and technical ability and that is down to the quality of coaching they have received from Mark and David.
We did attend the presentation ceremony, the players were formally dressed and were duly presented to the President of the EGU and his good wife who gave the team badges as tokens. It gave our youngsters an opportunity to experience playing on the big stage and more important it gave them the opportunity to see and play with good players. Hopefully it will spur them on to want to get to this stage again but more importantly it will make them want to get even better. Thank you all for your hard work over the last two years. I have included the individual scores and you should be aware that Joe Combellack is now to be known as “Joe 2 gloves”...in his round he eagled the par 5 17th and birdied the par 4 18th, having stroked his drive the best part of 300 yards off the tee.
The scores were:-
Sam Jarvis 29 and 33 pts
Joe Combellack 35 and 37 pts
Anna Clagett 31 and 32 pts
Well done St. Enodoc Junior Academy Team
