St. Enodoc Golf Club - Junior Academy update for 2013

Members will be interested to note the latest developments regarding the Junior Academy. Lynn Ashcroft, now Ladies Captain, understandably will lessen her involvement with the administrative concerns of the Academy, as will Kenton Williams. Lynn will obviously contribute through the Ladies section and Kenton will continue to manage the Junior team.

John Bower has kindly offered to ‘front’ the Academy ensuring that the coaching and competition programme operates effectively. John will sit on the Junior Executive chaired by Tony Rounsevell (Vice Captain)which will meet periodically to monitor and review the Academy programme. John’s first task will be to approach Members willing to ‘give up’ a couple of hours to act as team leaders. They in turn will organise a team of helpers to assist with the Saturday programme; involving oneself with this Saturday coaching means just a couple of hours a year.

We were fortunate to have Geraldine Keohane on board last year. Geraldine was responsible for registering those in attendance on a Saturday morning. This year she will take up Lynn’s role of liaising and communicating with the junior members. She will also provide an important link for the parents.

If, on reading this article, you are keen to be involved, please let John know, he will be pleased to give you more information. We do have an ever growing number of youngsters wanting to, and waiting to join. We have a superb structure, fantastic coaching and brilliant support from the Club which will benefit greatly in the longer term from the flow of new Members whose golf started in the Academy but future success does need Club member involvement.
