This Saturday was the final round in the John Cory Cup Series. There was rain in the morning, clearing for those who played later in the day and a chilly South Westerly wind.
Bob Cruse won the day with 36 points, he birdied the 8th and the 10th and hit gross pars on 4, 6, 15 and 17. As a result his handicap has been cut to 13. Bob did not enter the Series this year so the top series points go to second place.
Andy Beare came in second on countback on Saturday with 35 points, he increased his series points total by 7, catapulting him up the table. In 3rd Andy Griffiths also had 35 points giving him 20 series points as well, he too moved his way up the series standing.
Neil Bradley and Nigel Buse both scored 34 points to come in 4th and 5th, with Richard Hambly and Lewis Bradley just behind with 34 points. Rob Cook had 32 points in 8th and Rod Frost and Matt Smith both finished with 31 points in 8th and 9th place. Rod advanced up the series table enough to take a prize.
So, the final standings for the John Cory Cup Series are shown in the results table under ‘extras’.
Richard Lawrence came first with a combined total of 71 points, he did just what he needed to do this week scoring 30 stableford points to improve his 4th score for the series by just 1 point which was enough to fight off the tope series points received by Andy Beare, who finished with 70 series points but had to settle with 2nd place on the table. Ryan Perring who was sitting in 2nd place last week did not improve his total and ended the series in 3rd place. John Paul took his holiday at the wrong time and could do nothing to improve his standing, he finished in 4th place with 64 points. Keith Hawke finished in 5th place using his 5th best score in a tie with Keith Searle and Rod Frost who finished 6th and 7th on the table. Nigel Buse was 8th with Andy Griffiths 9th, Ken Perring 10th and John Rowe 11th.
