81 members came out of hibernation on Saturday to play the 5th round of the John Cory Cup. It was a bright, crisp day with not a lot of wind - a perfect day for winter golf. Now into the 5th round the series table is worked out with 4 scores to count so it is time to start improving on previous scores to get to the top of the table. After Saturday’s round, Rob Cook is leading the series with 60 points.
The winner of the day was Lewis Bradley with 37 points. Now playing off 8 Lewis had a great round, starting with a birdie on the first and another on the 4th, he took first place on countback from Mark Pimble. Mark’s front nine was brilliant, scoring him 26 points but from the 10th home things did not look so good.
In third place Dave Pooley scored 35 points ahead of Steve Chapman in 4th and Rob Cook in 5th both with 35 points. Nick Shelley, Graham Keeble, Andy Bunt and Paul Warren took the next 4 places all with 34 points and Russell Combellack sneaked into 10th place with 33 points.
