The first playable men’s competition of the year was only just playable in the wind and rain that came on Saturday. There were times during the day when just walking the course was a challenge. During the morning the 6th green was flooded with one group having to abandon their round and those who tee’d off later in the day really had to fight to finish their rounds. 44 men entered with 34 completing their cards, and the competition unsurprisingly was reductions only with a Competition Standard Scratch of 74.
Keith Searle beat the odds to finish with 35 points, and finish in 1st place. He has been cut to 18 as a result! Steve Buse came in second with 32 points and is back to a 2 handicap. In 3rd place Andy Griffiths scored 31 points and beat Andy Bunt and Dave Pooley on countback. Andy Beare finished in the prizes in 6th place with 30 points.
