Round 4 of the John Cory Cup was played in very challenging conditions on Saturday 10th January. 53 members took their chances with the weather and tee’d off the first, into a head on wind. The early players were thin on the ground this week, not being used to the full force of the wind. Those who usually play a little later have a bit more experience with our friendly north westerly and faired a bit better returning some surprisingly good scores.
Joe Combellack had a great round off his 5 handicap, and scored 32 points to take first place. Behind him in second, on countback, Dave Flew returned 30 points. Injured on the 17th John Paul had done enough to take 3rd with 30 points ahead of Josh Greenaway. In 4th place,Windy also with 30 points Josh’s score is remarkable in the conditions off his +1 handicap.
With 29 points Richard Hawken came in 5th, followed by Keith Thompson in 6th with 29 points and Dave Pooley in 7th also with 29 points.
The series is starting to shape up now too. With 4 scores to count in the 9 round series, we now know the 4 scores to beat and Richard Hawken is top of the table with 66 points in total.
