You had to be brave to play in the 2nd round of the Cory Cup on Saturday. The Northerly wind was cold and very strong, with rain throughout the morning. Out around the 14th and 15th the wind could nearly blow you off your feet as you tee’d off! The competition standard scratch went up to 74 as a result and the competition was, unsurprisingly, reductions only. Just 19 of our hardy members took up the challenge – were they really brave, or a little bit mad?
The tough conditions were perfect for Rich Lawrence who won the day with 34 points having scored on every hole. He didn’t drop a shot till the 8th and parred 4 holes. Richard’s handicap has been cut! In second John Rowe scored 28 points to beat Nigel Buse and Russell Combellack on countback. Nigel and Russell also scored 28 and finished in 3rd and 4th.
