On Saturday 3rd December round three of the John Cory Cup winter stableford series was played.
53 players set out on a chilly day with a stern easterly breeze that made a tough test for the Saturday boys, evidenced by the CSS of 74. At the end of play Andy Griffiths (more commonly known as 'Towbar') had distanced himself from the rest of the field with a score of 37 points. In second place was Rod Frost, steadily coming back into form, with 33 points in a countback over Guy Hovil. Fourth place was taken by the ubiquitous John Arnold and 5th and 6th places were both on 31 points with John Rowe pipping Peter George on another countback.
Tough conditions, but after a full week of frost it was nice to be able to tee it up again. It is very early days yet, but the positioning is already taking place in the series table. Still plenty of time for the rest of the field with six more Corys to play.
