Former champion Jackie Foster has moved into pole position at the English Senior Women’s Open Stroke Play at St Enodoc, Cornwall.
Foster has won this title twice before, in 2016 and 2017, and has made herself the player to beat with her 36-hole score of six-over par.
The senior international finished with a birdie today for one-over 74 which she added to her opening 78.
Foster, from Bishops Stortford in Hertfordshire, heads a leaderboard which is packed with quality.
She is a stroke ahead of Aileen Greenfield (Pyecombe, Sussex), the 2018 winner of the English Senior Women’s Amateur.
A further shot back is defending champion Helen Lowe (Scraptoft, Leicestershire), who shares third place with Sue Wooster of Australia.
Breathing down their necks is a group which includes another past champion, Lulu Housman of Wyke Green in Middlesex.
The host club’s Caroline Hume-Kendall successfully qualified for the final round, sharing 16th place after the two rounds. She’s among the leading 45 players and ties who return tomorrow to decide the outcome of the championship.
