Watching the BMW PGA Championship from Wentworth it was very amusing to see “Mark Roe's new toy” which was a drone helicopter pointing out the features on individual holes. It is certainly the first time one has been used to demonstrate golf holes on television on either side of the Atlantic and I am just wondering where they got the idea from! The helicopter flyover has proved to be a very popular feature on our website and has over 700 viewings a month.
We have even received an enquiry from America from golf architect / shaper Kyle Franz to use on the Mid Pines course in North Carolina where he has done a great job in returning it to its former state as a follow-on from the work of Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore on Pinehurst No.2 for the 2014 US Mens and Ladies Opens on which he was employed. He is now part of the team under Gil Hanse building the course in Brazil for the 2016 Olympic Games. Kyle who could be Andy Bunt's twin brother played St Enodoc when over here in 2005 and is still raving about it and can remember many of its unique features.
