Everyone was able to breathe a sigh of relief when the Ian Waters and the Holywell mixed competitions managed to be played unscathed! Thankfully, the bad weather that had been forecast had blown through earlier giving a somewhat decent chance instead of cancelling yet again.
After a few technical hitches, twenty three pairs set out on the Church and Holywell in this greensomes competition in good spirits. On returning to the clubhouse the good mood continued on into the presentation where upon Club Captain Bob Cruse, indiscriminantly handed out fines to various people including the eventual winners of the Ian Waters trophy, Terri Gliddon and Andy Bunt for no other reason than it took eleven attempts to win it! Terri graciously accepted the trophy and vouchers along with Andy and stated that ' her partner played like a dream and it had only taken them 10 plus years to win this competition, but she will now be able to retire happy'! On the Holywell with a massive 41 points was regular participants Malcolm Knight and Rose Jones won the competition and it was a tustle for second place with Tony & Bobby Rounsevell edging in on count back with 38 points.
Bob thanked everyone for taking part and to those who came in the prizes and also to all the staff at the golf club for all they do.
The next mixed competition is the Bray Bowl Foursomes Medal (Church) and the Mixed Foursomes Medal (Hoywell) is on Sunday 24th May.
