Once more as I sit at my desk watching the wind and rain I begin to reflect on the two recent matches played over the space of four days last weekend. The first encounter was at home where battle was done amid strong winds and spiteful showers. The Old Saints managed a solid performance running out 6 – 2 winners with the two losses coming on the 18th green. The recipient of the bottle of wine was Graham Keeble, one of only two players to get on the 11th green.
Having dried out our kit we assembled at Lanhydrock for the return match. We needn’t have bothered as we played in solid rain from start to finish. The tables were turned and we sustained a loss of 2 – 6. Derek Rushton walked away with the wine for the closest shot to the pin on the 15th.
……..and we’re still trying to dry out three days later!
