St. Enodoc Golf Club - Holywell ? Lady Vets & Seniors Lamb Gambol

This year, the Lamb Gambol was held on Friday 2nd of May and was very much enjoyed by all the competitors. The weather was kind with not too much wind, just enough sun and no rain at all. Strangely the winning score was no less than 8 shots worse than last year.

There were two events which bare retelling, both refer to the Seniors as opposed to the lovely Lady Vets to whose secrets I am not privy. Firstly there was a strange case of cross-dressing in the men's changing room perpetrated by one of the high winners. This man has been known to confused his and other people's shoes before - but really. There is a rumour that security cameras will shortly be installed to combat this behaviour. Question is – who will monitor them?

The other occurrence involved the ever youthful Fred Leese. He took his driver at the 16th (110yds) and hit the ball a bit low and left into the left hand bank. It bounced right and came to rest about two feet short of the green. Fred proceeded to hole his 10yd putt and it yielded 5 stableford points and a net 0. Unfortunately there was no acknowledgement for this unforeseen and remarkable feat amongst the superb array of prizes provided and presented by Di and Tony Mindel but Fred graciously accepted the enthusiastic applause of all present.

The presentation ended this delightful event and Captains Nigel Thomas and Annie Matthews thanked all those involved in the organisation particularly the catering staff who had prepared such a sumptuous feast.
