Unfortunately the 2013 Gammon Final was played in atrocious conditions at Trevose Golf Club. The wind speed was 28mph, gusting to 40mph and not only was there wind there was rain as well. No brollies were used to shelter players, caddies or supporters!
Despite the conditions there was some very good golf. Jean Tatam was 7 down after 8 holes and managed to prolong her match until 16, losing 3 & 2. Sue Ofield, Meg Godfrey & Bev Vann secured wins for St Enodoc.
Sarah Sandercock had an excellent game against Fiona Telfer Bruton taking the match to the 18th hole. Fiona sunk an excellent putt to birdie 18 and gain the crucial point which won the Gammon Trophy for Perranporth.
A big thank you to the players Kathy Biddle, Jean Tatam, Sarah Sandercock, Sue Ofield, Meg Godfrey, Bev Vann & Trudie Tensjo; also to their caddies who did a mammoth job keeping the clubs dry!
Finally what a band of supporters, braving those atrocious conditions all the way through to the conclusion of the match...Thank you!
A very proud St Enodoc Gammon Captain.
