A partly sunny Winter\'s day with a light wind greeted the Members on 24th November who were taking part in the first of the Sunday Mixed Greensomes of the season and the event was well supported with 25 pairs taking part on the Church course and a further 12 pairs on the Holywell. Captain Tony Rounsevell made it clear at the subsequent prize giving that it was the intention to encourage greater Member participation in these events by using both courses.
The courses were in excellent condition particularly the greens on the Church which caught out many with their speed. Mixed Foursomes is the hardest of all formats in which to score well was only made a shade easier by playing Greensomes which allowed each team to select the best of their 2 drives with which to play out the hole. Having said that the scores were very acceptable on the Church and excellent on the Holywell.
Those in the prizes were:-
1st Roger & Trudie Tremain 36 pts
2nd Rod Frost & Sue Kingston 35pts
3rd Ian & Maggie Day 33 pts
4th Marc & Penny Knight 31 pts
1st Dick Bentley & Rose Jones 42 pts
2nd Adam Duncan & Jackie Fisher 42 pts
3rd Mike Robinson & Carol Dell 40 pts
Rose Jones Captain Tony Rounsevell and Dick Bentley
The highlight of the day was one Lady Member who in the interests of Data Protection has to remain nameless, on the 15th on the Holywell who managed to hit her ball into one of the pockets of one of her playing partners\' bag - a feat that even the trick shot specialists would be hard put to achieve. With food available after play it was agreed that there was no better way to spend a Winter Sunday afternoon.
