The Junior Academy played at Killiow in their first match in the County Bolitho Shield on Sunday 30th June and it was always going to be a testing fixture. Playing a course for the first time and also having to give "quite a few shots" to players on their own track would indeed be a new experience to all the players. Joe Combellack, giving 7 shots, led the way taking his match to the 18th, unfortunately he lost a ball on the final hole to halve his match with Jamie Crocker. Junior Captain Sam Jarvis, giving 6 shots, played Ben Cousins surprisingly lost 5 & 4. Former Junior Captain Jake Sanders, giving 4 shots to James Trew, won his match 6 & 5. Mark Turner, giving 7 shots had an excellent 4 & 3 win against Carlen Williams. The final two matches were indeed close encounters with Ryan Perring, giving 7 shots taking on Freddie Norris and Rhiannon Rich, giving 5 shots to Ross Thomas. Both matches were settled on the 18th with the home players winning 1 up. Although the final result meant defeat with the final score reading St. Enodoc 2.5 Killiow 3.5 there were many positives.
