It was dark, cold and wet on arrival at Bude however the bacon baps soon perked the team up. The morning foursomes got underway and the results were:
So the score after the morning foursomes and 9th man match was a very close 2.5-2.25 to St.Enodoc.
Highlights included Irwin & Welch coming back from two down with six to play which included four birdies. Lewis and Cruse played very well with some help from Lovett on the bag. Chapman and Hovil unfortunately didn’t quite get into gear. Masters and Buse report they had an excellent long game but struggled a bit with the greens unlike their opponents who holed some Barry McGuigan’s. Westy reportedly 3 putted more greens than were on the course but it was a tight match.
The afternoon singles results were as follows:
Chapman, Cruse and Irwin won their matches and only 1 point was required for the win. A good performance from Lewis Bradley meant that he won his match on the 17th and the match for the team, this win was closely followed by wins from Mikey Masters and Simon Welch. Further investigations are being undertaken into the likely cause of Buse and Hovil’s defeat but all fingers point at Mark Westlake who hollered when Buser’s opponent holed the winning putt.
Thank you to the caddies who volunteer their time and put themselves through the rollercoaster of the CTC, also thank you to the many supporters who wrapped up in support of the team.
The next round is on the 25th of February VS Perranporth, location TBC
