It's the first time in a couple of years since the Fairfield Goblets has been played, so it was good to get the men's competitions back to a normal programme especially as this is the qualifier for the Men's Daily Mail Foursomes National Competition.
The final between pairings of Neil Bradley (Club Captain) & Graham Keeble (Treasurer) versus Andrew Teuton with his partner Paul Warren was set to be a tough one. Neither pair had an easy journey to get there with many of the other competitiors being formidable opponents especially in Andrew and Paul's case as they had the dynamic duo of Runnalls & Runnalls in the first round!
To avoid playing in the current heatwave the match was set for a cooler 5pm tee time. Andrew and Paul played solidly throughout the round and slowly, but surely edged the win beating Neil and Graham with a 3&1 margin.
Neil was complimentary in defeat and layed the gauntlet down by saying 'Well done lads , a place in this year's Frank Wills Team awaits , if you accept the challenge'.....so watch this space!!!
Congratulations to Paul Warren and Andrew Teuton on winning this year's Fairfield Goblets. They will go forward and represent St Enodoc next year in the Daily Mail Foursomes.
