The excitement is building for our hosting of the English Womens Amateur Championship between July 15th and 17th and the response from Members to volunteer for duties such as ball spotting and starting has been very encouraging. It has been some while since we last hosted a national event, and this is a great opportunity for us to show off not only our course and refurbished clubhouse but how welcoming we, as a Club, are to visitors.
We have attracted an entry of 112 players which is some 40 more than last year which by all accounts was about the average which is really exciting news and a feather in our cap. Now we need to pull out all the stops so that the players can really enjoy the course to its best. We are all aware just how hard it is finding balls in the rough so we need the maximum number of ball spotters in order to keep the round times sensible. The rota is now being put together and there are still some spaces for those who have not yet volunteered.
As a "thank you" from the Club there will be a drinks and nibbles reception on the eve of play on Monday 14th at 6.00pm for all those Members who will be volunteering during the 3 days of the event.
