The weather forecast for the day was far from encouraging. It had predicted strong winds and persistent rain. Nevertheless a strong field of some seventy two players, unperturbed by these dire descriptions, took to the Holywell. They clothed themselves in waterproofs and determined smiles to participate in this annual competition, which forms part of the Club\'s Christmas events.
This year the format was for teams of four, with three scores to count, in a stableford scoring system. The course was in remarkably good condition with the greens running quite slickly. The organisers were grateful for a shotgun start which meant that this popular event was concluded within good time.
The Senior Captains, Richard Parsons and Annie Matthews, spoke enthusiastically about the spirit and warmth that this combination of the Ladies and Gentlemen generates. They expressed their gratitude for the efficiency of the catering staff in serving so many meals so effectively. Everyone noted the contribution of Tony and Di Mindel in organising the day. Tony was quick to deny that the ducks used in the prizes had not come from a discounted purchase from East Yorkshire.
