Photo from left to right. Seniors Captain Colin Earle, with winners Ian Hall, Maureen Taylor, Keith Hawke and Lady Vets Captain Beth Elliott. The three in the middle have got their ducks in a row ! Pam Chapman, who was in the winning team had already flown off to cook her duck !
The Seniors and Vets get together twice a year to play combined teams in these enjoyable social matches, this time it was the Duck Dawdle, which was all about ducks – meals and prizes ! 56 players dawdled and waddled out on the Holywell on a pleasant, but rather windy day. Handicaps where applicable, were adjusted to take the Holywell into account. It was rumoured that the winning team still had some 35 handicappers in it’s team !
The winners were Keith Hawke, Ian Hall, Maureen Taylor and Pam Chapman with 111 points.
Runners up were Tony Rounsevell, Ken Metcalfe, Barbara Robson and Anne Irons with 110 points.
3rd were John Godwin, Bill Hughes, Anne Mayne and Pam Hall with 108 points.
Keith has taken like a duck to water by winning twice and being a runner up in the last 3 years !
After a suitable recovery period in the bar, the ladies and the gents retired upstairs to partake in the usual excellent fayre (including duck,) provided by Iain and his team .
Captains Colin and Beth were joint hosts for the presentation of the prizes and Colin ran a duck themed quiz which bemused most people with some very odd and unheard of ducks. Flowers were presented by Colin to Beth and also to Annie Matthews, who once again did an excellent job in cutting up the duck for the prizes.
A very good day was had by all.
We all now look forward to the Lamb Gambol in May.
