The away return match against Perranporth on Thursday, 23rd May proved to be something of a disappointment. Having won at home, the Seniors were hoping to ‘do the double’, but that hope was in vain. Although we should be used to playing in the wind, the conditions were particularly demanding, especially when combined with heavy and chilling showers.
The disappointment was also compounded by embarrassment. Despite the best endeavours of Captain of the Day, Nigel Thomas, we were unable to field a full 8 pairs because of withdrawals from the selected team. Nigel expressed eloquent apologies on behalf of the Seniors which were graciously accepted by our hosts. In the end, the Enodoc Saints went down 6 – 2.
Thomas & Bower won 2 & 1
