At the recent Ladies AGM the Lady Members elected Di Mindel to be their Captain. Niblick asked Di for an instant mini autobiography and this is it ...........
I was born in Kisumu, Kenya, and spent my first ten years in East Africa. My parents came to the UK as a family in 1962 and I went to school in Leeds. They moved to New Malden, Surrey, where I attended Pitmans Secretarial College in Wimbledon. Then went on to work for the Newspaper Society in the City and on to Pfizer in Kent.
I joined BOAC as an air stewardess and had nine enjoyable years in which time I met my husband, Tony. Had two children and moved to Cornwall in 1985, when we purchased a farmhouse and redundant farm buildings, which we converted into holiday cottages and ran the business for some fifteen years before retiring and moving to St. Tudy.
On occasions I accompanied Tony to a variety of club golfing events, simply strolling around the beautiful golf courses. Several of the St. Enodoc ladies prompted me into swinging a golf club rather than just walking - and my golfing career started!!!!! Little did I think the journey would take me to this highly privileged position.
We wish Di every success during her period of office.
