On the 1st of August and a hot and sultry day at Holsworthy Golf Club Meg Godfrey and Jax Buse met their opponents in the 6th round of this national competition. Now down to the last 64 clubs in the country
with only one more round before getting to the finals in St Pierre Chepstow, they were up against a long hitting pair of ladies - Ely Walmsley with a handicap of 4 and Carol Skrzypczak playing off 12.
Although Meg and Jax were receiving 4 shots it was not enough to overcome the disadvantage of playing away and the local ladies were often ahead by a narrow margin. Some excellent putting by Meg and Jax managed to level the match on four occasions but after losing the short 16th to a long putt by Carol, it was her extra length off the tee that allowed them to cut the corner on the dog leg 17th to win the hole and thus the match.
