The 2014 -15 Cornwall Team Championship gets under way this weekend and since it is a Scratch competition it attracts the County\'s best players. With a change in rules this year which requires players to hold their handicaps at the Club we have sadly lost two of our most successful players Country Members Mark Justice and Mike Weaver; their records in CTC over the last 5 and 2 years respectively would make the United States Ryder Cup team green with envy. Captain Steve Chapman has announced his team which will be as follows:-
Joe Cruse - Josh Walsh
Steve Chapman - Robbie Moore
Mark Westlake - Steve Buse
Joe Combellack - Rod Frost
9th man- Charlie Runnalls
Although there are many familiar names missing most of our team have represented the Club at CTC level before. The first new face is Joe Combellack, one of our younger Members, who is a product of our Academy and Junior Team. Secondly Rod Frost who has not been a St Enodoc Member for long but who created quite a stir in the Summer playing for the Cornwall County Seniors.
Our opponents in this first round are our old local rivals Trevose whom we have played twice in recent years in the Final and the match is taking place at Perranporth this Sunday 26th October with the morning Foursomes teeing off from 8.00 am. The Singles will follow after lunch. This will be a tight match with all to play for so please come along and support our team as the players always appreciate seeing familiar faces encouraging them.
