The Cornwall Golf Union Men's County team are the new Channel League Champions after an emphatic away win against Glamorgan at Radyr GC, South Wales on Sunday 6th October. The Duchy team put together an excellent afternoon singles win to cement the early advantage they held after the morning foursomes and produced a 10.5 - 4.5 winning margin. This win enabled Cornwall to overhaul Devon at the top of the table and become Champions for the first time since 1997.
Rob Davies was making his County debut and was paired with Joe Cruse for the morning foursomes returning an emphatic 7&5 win.
In the afternoon singles Joe Cruse had a quiet start before producing an outstanding eagle on the par 5 8th where he holed a 12 foot putt to go ahead in the match. From this position he never looked back and won his game 4&3. Rob Davies won 2&1 against this years Welsh Boys Champion Kyle Harman to complete a succcessful first outing for the County.
