After some brave golf all of the St Enodoc players are now out of the County Amateur Championship. On Friday morning Joe Cruse was beaten by Perranporth\'s Chris Fleming who went on to beat last year\'s beaten finalist Matt Richards (West Cornwall) in the afternoon. Our other participant Rob Davies had an excellent win 5 & 4 against Matt Lock of Newquay in the morning but in the afternoon went out 2 & 1 to St Mellion\'s Joe Yorke. What a great performance Rob has put up this week and he should be duly proud of his efforts. Hopefully the County selectors will have taken due note of his performances.
Our B Team also played today but sadly were beaten 3-0 by Newquay who then went on to beat Carlyon Bay by the same result to reach the final.
The other event on was for the \"good old boys\" - the Seniors and Founders Cups. A field of 76 took part and for a long time it looked as if our own Kevin Parker with 37 points was going to win only to be pipped by local George Downing with 38 right at the end of the field. One has to feel sorry for him as he was 3 points clear of the chasing pack. Dave Bastard came a very creditable 8th on 32 points , Danny Hoare 14th on 31 and Keith Hawke one place behind on the same score. Ian Day was 26th on 28 points with Mark (sometimes St Enodoc sometimes Truro) Stevenson on 27 but for the second event running got himself into the 2s. Defending champion Pete Liddicoat had what can only be described as a difficult day – enough said!
