The third round of the Colonel's and Metropole Cup Series stableford competition was played on Saturday 28th May. Finally the Saturday boys were rewarded with some nice weather. This is like coming out of hibernation, following a long, wet & windy winter! However, with good weather comes growth (in the form of rough!) and the Church Course is starting to bare some fangs.
Stuart Fleet distanced himself somewhat from the pack with a very nice 37 points in Division I. A par,par finish with strokes on each of the last two holes helped him win by three points. Steve Smith and Guy Hovil each had 34 points, whilst the ever-steady Kevin Brenton scored 33.
In Division II, Adrian Halling came out of the Pro Shop to win with 35 points, one shot clear of Derek Rushton and two clear of Ketih Thompson and Kevin Cornford.
85 players took part overall. It feels like summer is on the way!!
