A stormy Saturday for the Colonels Metropole Cup this weekend. Just 23 men braved the weather to play in round 7 of the series. The wind was gusting to 65 miles per hour and the rain squalls came thick and fast throughout the day. Club choice on most holes had to be different to normal.
Not put off by a bit of bad weather Richard Hawken was back after his hole in one last week to win the Colonels division with 30 points. Spud turned in a strong card with 7 pars, only failing to score on 14. In second Shaun Beare parred 6 holes to finish with 29 points and in 3rd place John Rowe had 28 points. With just 4 prizes for the diminished field Guy Hovil took 4th with 27 points.
In the Metopole division, Mike Buse was blown out of the golfing doldrums to score an impressive 33 points. Mike scored well from the start and continued his hurricane form to finish 5 points clear of the field, with a par on the 17th. Will Rich claimed the only other prize for the division in second place with 28 points.
There is just one round left in the series now, to be played on 24th September. John Arnold is currently leading the Colonels Cup with 75 points, he is 8 points ahead a present but can still be caught by those following; Rod Frost, Rich Hawken, Lewis Bradley, Andy Beare, to name a few.
In the Metropole Cup Andy Griffiths is leading with 73 points, at his heels Keith Thompson, Ryan Perring, Malcolm Knight and Mike Buse could easily change the rankings.
The results tables are posted under extras.
