75 Members turned out this Saturday for the Colonels/Metropole Cups. The sun was shining but there was a challenging wind whipping in. The Competition Standard Scratch was 73 so things were a bit tricky out there – as normal!
In the Colonel’s Cup Steve Buse took the lead. His continued good form kept him just ahead on countback with 33 points, and also earned him a handicap reduction. In second after countback with 33 points, Charlie Runnalls played solidly barring a blob on the 4th. Kevin Brenton also scored 33 points in 3rd place. Paul Warren scored 32 points to take 4th place, followed by Ian McKelvey in 5th and Keith Hawke in 6th both with 31 points.
Richard Parsons lead the way in the Metropole Cup this week, with 35 points. He had a great front 9 and played well coming home, tailing off from 15 he’d already done enough to take 1st place. In second Norman Hawkey scored 33 points and Derek Rushton scored 32 to take 3rd position. In 4th and 5th Ken Perring and Keith Willmott both returned with 31 points.
The Series are now into their 5th round and with just 4 score to count things are starting to get interesting. In the Colonel’s series Steve Buse is still at the top of the table with 73 points, having improved his previous best score by winning on Saturday. While the Metropole Series has had a shake up with Steve Cock on 72 points jumping to the top now he is able to drop his previous low score.
