With sea mist robbing the course of sunshine, the men tee’d off for the second round of the Colonel’s and Metropole Cups. The shroud of mist did not seem to affect the scores with most players still cheerful on their return!
Julian Darnell found winning form in the Wednesday Evening Stableford and carried it through to win The Colonels division on Saturday with 39 points, narrowly beating Simon Marquis on countback, who had to settle for 2nd place. With 38 points in 3rd place, Josh Greenaway beat Martin Biddle into 4th on countback and Steve Buse took 5th place with 37 points.
In the Metropole Cup Colin Garnett took the glory with 36 points. He won on countback from Nigel Thomas who also had 36 points. Neal Jolly finished in 3rd place with 34 points, with Roger Tremain in 4th place with 33 points and Pete Liddicoat finishing 5th with 32 points.
The winning series points went to Josh in the Colonels division and to Neal in the Metropole, you’ve got to be in it to win it! And those few extra points might make all the difference at the end of the series in September!
