It was a beautiful day for our Men’s competition on Saturday; hardly a breath of wind and plenty of sun to go around. 74 members played in the 3rd round of the Colonel’s and Metropole Cups, with 24 of them entering the optional Lombard Trophy qualifying.
David Lupton won the Colonel’s division with 40 points and will also go forward in the Lombard Trophy to represent the club with Nick Williams. John Rowe came 2nd on countback also scoring 40 points. In 3rd place Matthew Mills scored 39 points and then Simon Marquis, Kevin Brenton and Rod Frost had to be separated by countback in 4th, 5th and 6th respectively with 38 points each.
In the Metropole Cup, Kevin Parker came 1st with 36 points. Richard Norsworthy was 2nd with 35 points ahead of Kevin Richards on countback in 3rd place. Byron Weston came 4th and Wayne Mitchell 5th, each with 34 points and 6th place was taken by Phil Jory on 33 points.
