On Saturday 79 members took part in the 5th round of the Colonels and Metropole Cups. It was overcast throughout the day and very humid, there was a strong south westerly wind but it was dry all day. Some very good scores were returned.
Neil Carhart took the lead in the Colonels Cup with a score of 38 points, Neil started well scoring 21 on his front 9, the back nine was not quite as spectacular but enough to give him a clear win and also a handicap reduction. Neil Bradley came in second with 37 points having birdied the first, fourth and fourteenth holes. Joe Combellack was 3rd with another strong front 9 finishing on 35 points. John Paul came 4th with 34 points, Stuart Fleet 5th with 32 points on countback and James Hutchings was 6th with 32 points.
In the Metropole Cup Andy Golding lead the field with 36 points. Andy picked up his points on the front nine scoring consistently until a hiccup on 13, he has had his handicap reduced to 19. In second place Andy Griffiths scored 34 points followed by Keith Thompson in 3rd on 33 points. Phil Hoare, Malcolm Mullis and Terry Carthew took the rest of the prizes all with 32 points.
There are 3 rounds to go in the series now, John Arnold currently leads the Colonels Cup and Andy Griffiths is topping the table in the Metropole Cup.
