Round 4 of the Colonel’s and Metropole Cups were played on Saturday in the lovely Cornish mizzle and strong wind. With some members busy at the Royal Cornwall Show and the rest just avoiding the weather there were just 52 men signed up to test their resolve.
In division 1, The Colonel’s Cup, Andy Beare scored 36 points to take first place and claim the 20 series points. Andy didn’t drop a shot on the front 9 and birdied the 4th, his handicap is cut to 5. In second place Chris Jennings scored 34 points to finish ahead of Mark Westlake in 3rd place with 32 points. 4th and 5th place go to Nick Shelley and Steve Buse respectively, who both had 31 points.
The Metropole Cup 4th round was won by Ken Perring with 33 points. Ken also had a handicap cut to 12 putting him back in the Colonel’s Cup in the next round! Mark Jarvis came 2nd with 28 points and Mike Buse was 3rd on countback with 27 points ahead of Richard Bentley who took the final prize.
With 4 rounds to count in the Series it is now time to start improving on previous scores. Chris Jennings is ahead after 4 rounds in the Colonels Cup and Kevin Richards is leading the way in the Metropole Cup.
