After a spectacular week of golf with the South West County Championships on the course, 72 members were itching to get back out there and show off their talents. The weather was a lot kinder than the forecast and the course was in great condition, perfect for the 4th round of the Colonel’s and Metropole Cup.
Rob Cook stole victory in the Colonel’s Cup with 36 points. Rob birdied the 3rd and 11th and won on a back 6 countback. Guy Hovil finished 2nd with 36 points. Having birdied the 6th, the 12th, the 14th and the 17th it was his 8 on the 16th that kept him in 2nd place. Lewis Bradley finished 3rd with 35 points ahead of John Arnold in 4th, also on 35 points. Andy Beare had 34 points in 5th place and Rod Frost finished 6th with 33 points.
Malcolm Knight topped division 2, the Metropole Cup with 37 points. One of 3 on equal points Malcolm’s birdie on the 16th sealed his victory. Matthew Warr came in 2nd after countback and will now move across to the Colonel’s Cup after a handicap reduction to 12.1. Richard Norsworthy birdied the 14th and finished in 3rd place on 37 points. Derek Rushton tool 4th place with 36 points and Andy Griffith finished 5th on 35 points. In the prizes, Richard Parsons came 6th with 34 points and Derek Daniels had 32 points in 7th place.
