The final round of the 2017 Colonel’s and Metropole Cups were played on Saturday. After 8 rounds stretching from April through the dubious Summer, the winners have been decided. Nigel Buse wins the Metropole Cup for 2017 and Guy Hovil wins the Colonel’s Cup.
Nigel made a late run for the Metropole title after his handicap was cut, he finished with 75 series points, 4 ahead of long time rival Mike Buse who had to settle for second with 71 series points.
In the Colonels Cup, Guy Hovil took an early lead back in May and finished just as strong with 19 points in round 7 and 20 in round 8 giving him 79 series points overall. Andy Beare finished 2nd with 72 series points.
In the day's competitions, John Arnold won division 1 on countback with 35 points from Richard Lawrence in 2nd place and Guy Hovil in 3rd. Phil Jory won division 2 with 31 points ahead of Tom Hughes in second with 30 points. Countback divided 2nd 3rd and 4th with Keith Searle in 3rd and Malcolm Knight in 4th both scoring 30 points, as well.
