As foreshadowed in the combined Management/Captain\'s committee meeting minutes of 28th November I am pleased to advise members that work on the Clubhouse up-grade will commence on Monday 27th January. The chosen contractor is T & D Carter Ltd. It is felt that, whilst somewhat challenging, the vast majority of the work, including the installation of a lift, will be completed by Easter.
Over the next twelve weeks there will, of course, unfortunately be the inevitable inconvenience to members and our guests whilst workmen are on site. During the phasing of the project some areas will be \'\'out of bounds\'\' and seating may be something of a squeeze at certain times but I am comforted by the fact that the restaurant will be unaffected throughout and that a bar (either upper or lower) will always be available.
I suspect that members\' patience may be tested on occasion but I have no doubt that the short term inconvenience suffered will be considered worthwhile when we have a super, up-graded Clubhouse of which we can be justifiably proud and one that will provide us with very comfortable surroundings for many years to come.
Retention of the current \'\'feel\'\' of our welcoming Clubhouse but with more up-to-date furnishings and decor was, of course, what the vast majority of members told us that they wanted following the consultants meetings and, in the light of comments also made at that time, a small working party was formed to achieve this end. On behalf of the members I would like to record my sincere thanks to Will Ashworth, Penny Cartwright, Martin Wilson and Tereen Oliver who have devoted so much of their valuable time Over the past few months to the project.
In summary, as your Chairman I can only apologize for any inconvenience you suffer over the forthcoming weeks - but, hopefully, by Easter you will be able to enjoy and relax in a Clubhouse that befits a golf course now recognized as one of the top 100 greatest courses in the World (Golf Digest 2014).
Chairman of the Management Committee.
