St Enodoc Golf Club was awash with juniors and red Chinnydipper caps, as the inaugural Cornwall Golf Union U12 Mini Tour teed off on Sunday. 54 junior golfers turned up to play a fun, shortened version of the game over 9 holes of stableford. Players from as far afield as Mullion and China Fleet made the journey and for some, whose clubs do not have a junior section, this was their first taste of junior golf.
The day consisted of the main competitions as well as some putting and chipping challenges managed by the St Enodoc Junior Section. The effort and support of the St Enodoc club was fantastic and went a long way to ensuring that the day was such a success. Even the weather held off until all the juniors were back in the clubhouse!
All juniors were treated to a CGU U12 Bag Tag and a Chinnydipper hat before their allotted tee time, and everyone was encouraged to take part in all the activities. Alan Lund, the CGU Juniors President, started all the groups, and many parents, and CGU Junior Committee members acted as stewards and card markers.
As the cards started to come in, the organisers realised this was to be a special day. The quality of golf became apparent as some truly magnificent scores started to appear!
