On the day the weather was kind and the team punctuality was exemplary.
St. Enodoc were in joint 3rd position after the first round where Irwin and Welch posted a 71 (+2) and Buse and Masters 75 (+6). Truro and Perranporth were in first and second with scores of 135 (-3) and 141 (+3) respectively.
Irwin and Welch mainly entertained with wayward golf and chat, but gelled, holed a few putts and made a few pars. Buse and Masters went along very nicely although had a concession of bogeys at the end of the round which has been put down to overdoing it in early morning gym sessions.
The wheels came off for Chapman in the afternoon (literally), as he played the final 12 holes wheeling a 2 wheeled power caddy. It seemed all up hill from there on in, however, amongst the trolley antics they made some putts and finished with a 74 (+5). Lewis Bradley partnering Steve played, and represented, the club well in his first official club county fixture. He was slightly dissatisfied with his morning round but he put up with Steve all day. Irwin and Welch posted a 73 (+4) ,with a Len Goodman, to take the final score to +17 over par and 4th position which was 2 shots behind Tehidy. Perranporth won with +3 and Truro came second with +11.
Bearing in mind these pairings were newly devised the team did well and enjoyed the day. More information can be found at http://www.cornwallgolfunion.org.uk/competition.php?compid=611
