Chapman and Irwin got off to a flying start at 1 under par through 5 holes and 4 up. However, their St Mellion opponents played the back 9 well with 2 birdies and 6 pars. Irwin and Chapman missed a few chances and lost on the 18th.
Combellack and Cruse started slowly with the match level pegging for much of it. But they finished with a string of pars to win 3&2.
Masters and L.Bradley teed off last and played some solid golf on the first 10 to be 3 up but, like Chapman and Irwin, they struggled with their putting on the back 9 and lost on the 18th.
Perranporth is a great match play course and it was a close match, however it was not to be for St. Enodoc today. On the plus side the team is having a meal at Raj this evening to provide support for the local economy.
