On Boxing Day morning 14 intrepid but, perhaps, slightly insane members gathered to attack the Church Course in 40mph winds. With only 12 holes in prospect, the task seemed quite reasonable before we went out! All competitors took the event very seriously, demonstrated by the fact that at least half the field used the wrong men’s tees! Being directly in to the wind the 16th contributed very little to the scores of all competitors so how our winners, Kath Biddle and Suzie Willmott managed to accrue a very solid 17 points was beyond most of the rest of the field.
Congratulations to them but sadly the other two members of the Biddle family fared less well. Probably, the least said about that the better! As is usual the entry fee was the donation of a prize so all competitors went away with an excellent result and much fun was had by all. It is a shame that the event was not better supported, no doubt the weather had a lot to do with it, but hopefully next year it will attract a larger field.
